Introduction

Welcome to KineticaRT Studio.

This document introduces KineticaRT Studio, explains what it can be used for and gives an overview of how to use it.

KineticaRT Studio is a software product for developing graphical user interface (GUI) software for industrial monitoring and control applications. It has been used in the following applications and is suitable for use in many more:

• Automobile engine production testing
• Automobile engine development testing
• Aerospace engine testing
• Aerospace wind tunnel control
• Motor sport wind tunnel control
• Greenhouse environmental monitoring and control

Some of the features of KineticaRT Studio include:

• Data capture from OPC servers and other data sources
• Data output to OPC servers and other destinations
• Data manipulation using expressions, filters etc
• Data display on GUI controls such as dials, digitals, trends, bars
• Data input from GUI controls such as digitals, sliders, buttons
• Drag and drop connection of data source to GUI controls
• Event and threshold handling.
• Sequencing using C# & Visual Basic .NET languages
• Optional end user modification of displays, sequences, data manipulation and data sources.

For simple systems, no previous software experience or programming is required.  The GUI can be configured from menus, by setting properties and using drag and drop.

For more complex systems, including sequencing of tests and control sequences, software can be added to your application using the C# and / or Visual Basic .NET languages.  KineticaRT Studio can compile and execute both these languages without requiring any extra development software even on the target systems thus allowing end users to modify test sequences if required.  The full facilities of these languages are available so anything is possible.

Software may also be developed using standard software development applications such as Microsoft's Visual Studio and Visual Basic .NET and then linked in to your KineticaRT Studio application. 

It is also possible to take an application written using Visual Studio / Visual Basic .NET and embed KineticaRT studio features into that application.
