 APPLICATION STORY



KineticaRT Wind Studio is a motor sport wind tunnel control and data acquisition system. We developed several custom components for this application.

One particularly demanding element of this application is the processing of forces (measured by balances) to provide results that the aerodynamicist can use directly to optimize the race car’s performance. A series of calculations, including geometrical rotations and transformations, have to be performed on mean values and raw data arrays. The calculations must be repeated more than once during a test, therefore performance is crucial. Because the order of calculations needs to be user configurable the “balance” component we developed is like a specialized scientific calculator which retains the results of intermediate calculations in a large multi-dimensional array

The balance component also contains the calibration constants associated with the force balance and its spatial position and orientation. The component collects force results from a data provider and delivers processed results to an XML results file in co-operation with other components.
