WIND STUDIO.EQUIPMENT INTERFACES

Another view of the Lola Cars International's wind tunnel showing: the model support strut and gimbals, the rolling road and the wheels-off positioning and drag measurement assemblies

Involvement in a number of wind tunnel control projects has taught us that no two tunnels are the same. Typical variations are rolling road technology/supplier, internal/external main balance, yaw and wheel tare philosophy.

To cater for these project variations and to allow the control system to evolve with the testing needs of the aerodynamicist, the interfaces between control system and tunnel and model equipment must offer a high level of flexibility.

Wind Studio uses a standard sub-system interface based on the OPC and XML standards.

The interface standard defines the mechanisms for transfer of control setpoints and live data as well as interface channels and timing associated with the management of sub-system data logging.

Sub-systems from the following vendors are directly compatible with Wind Studio:

MTS (rolling road, model motion system and main balance)
Scanivalve (pressure scanner)

If a sub-system does not support the Wind Studio interface standard, the customer or sub-system supplier can write a "shim" to provide compatibility.

Alternatively, as we have significant experience of "shim" development it may be most cost effective for us to do the development for you; in this case you will receive fully documented source code for the interface.
